The Artist
Kimberly Sellon - owner and craftsperson of
Feathertree Leather.

Live the life you love!
I recently heard this, and
it really hit home! Traveling since 1993 and doing Renaissance Festivals
across the country, I've found the life I love.
When I first started out,
it was in sales, and luckily at that time I met
Jake Wolfhart. He had a company called
River Oaks Leather that eventually became
Wolfhart Leather. His booth was at the Scarborough Renaissance
Faire, and I found myself in Waxahachie, Texas working for him. Over the
years we developed a business relationship and a friendship. The booth
that I now have at Scarborough Faire was the first booth I ever worked
in at that festival. Thank you, Jake!!!!
I have been working with
leather creatively since I was 15. Along the road there have been many
teachers. My Grandma Jean gave me my first supplies and lessons . . .
Jake filled in some more blanks, and then there was Dennis Thatcher
(Thatcher Leather Artistry) to further my education. My wire-working
abilities that you see on some of my work all came from
Cynthia McDonald, Starlitskies.com.
Those of you who come to
the Scarborough Renaissance
Festival will recognize these crafters’ names and work. One of the
inspirations for my style was a character from DR.WHO (the TV series).
Her name was Lelah, and she was always dressed in leather clothes that
were ragged. I absolutely loved that look.
Living in Silver City
has been inspirational on so many levels. My husband, Joseph Victor, and
I both work from home, Joe making wooden drinking vessels
(Goodlywoods.com), and me
making leather bags, etc. Just over a year ago he built me my studio
(you can see pictures in the gallery photo section) and I am in heaven.
It is the first time I have ever had a room dedicated only to my working
creativity!!!! Anyhow, that's a bit about me. Please enjoy browsing the
web site. This is a work in progress, and as soon as
Scarborough Renaissance
Festival is over, I will get some stock up here.

Be Well,
Kim
